Round 1 of the 2024 Nashville Spring Series presented by MPI was nothing short of thrilling. Through many cautions and lead changes, eight drivers made their way to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway Victory Lane in the double INEX points Round 1.
In a hard-fought showdown, Young Lions driver Keelan Harvick was able to maintain his P1 spot through the end. Starting P1 followed by Ryan Zima and Nathan Lyons, the competition was fierce as the trio continuously battled for the lead. As the race continued, the aggressive competition by all resulted in caution after caution come Lap 14.
As Zima and Harvick fought for the top spot with Lyons right on their tail, on an aggressive third restart of Lap 18 Zima was sent to the back by a caution leaving Harvick and Lyons to fight for first. On the fourth Lap 18 restart attempt, as time dwindled, the next flag determined the winner. The yellow and checkered waved together as Harvick crossed the line, gifting him a first round victory, with Lyons and Trayc Walker-Scott finishing second and third.
In another aggressive race, the Bandolero Bandits went bumper-to-bumper immediately as the green flag waved forcing a restart. It wasn't until the fourth restart of Lap 1 that the race truly kicked into high gear. James Faulker led the charge from the P1 spot closely followed by Bentley Thompson, Wyatt Coffey and Landon Thrasher with all four drivers battling fiercely to get in front.
While Faulkner initially held the lead, Coffey showcased his skills by maneuvering through the inside of each turn to find his place in the front. Despite the early setbacks and cautions, Faulkner, Coffey, and Thrasher all remained in contention for the number one spot.
A late caution on Lap 17 brought the race to a dramatic end as even the race director had to review the results before announcing. Amidst the chaotic conclusion, Thrasher was determined the winner with Coffey finishing second, and Jaxon Burnett not far behind in third.
Keeping up with the theme of the day of lead changes and intense competition, the Semi-Pros were no different. Michael Crafton took an early lead from his P3 position and was able to build a lead of almost two seconds by Lap 10. However, late-race cautions tightened the pack setting the stage for a battle between Crafton, Dylan Faulkner and Aryton Brockhouse. At the checkered flag, Faulkner managed to get ahead with only a 0.139-second lead over Bradley Swift in second place and Crafton coming home in third, completing a Tennessee podium sweep.
In a “Master”ful performance, Kevin Rollins began Round 1 in P1 and stayed there from green to checkered. Leading every lap Rollins was able to pull away from the pack as Scott Moseley, Giles Martin and Wayne Grubb looked to claim second and third. As the field continued to shift behind, Rollins was able to roll into Victory Lane without a scratch.
In a very intense Pro Division Race, the starting positions didn’t seem to matter in this caution-filled battle. With that, time restrictions limited the Pros to only 10 laps out of the 25-lap feature. To kick off the race, it took four restarts before counting the first lap with aggressive bumper-to-bumper action throughout the field. Meanwhile, gaining six positions, maneuvering his way through the madness from P7 to P1 Ethan Nascimento found his lead in the final seconds to claim the trophy followed by Nick Woodall and Sean McElearney.
Continuing his dominance in oval races, Outlaw Division driver TJ Moon and his No. 9 Bandolero made their way back to Victory Lane for Round 1. With a commanding lead of nearly three seconds, Moon left the rest behind him as they continued to fight for second and third. In a late restart, Colt Johnson surged past Owen Zacharias to secure his second place behind the seemingly unstoppable Moon.
Nice and steady got Emma Britt her first-ever Legends Car win in the Chargers Division Round 1 Feature. Starting from P3, Britt capitalized on cautions that sent Keeton Harris and Landon Cordell to the back, clearing her a path to claim the victory.
In another green to-checkered flag triumph, Beginner Bandolero driver Corbin Cannon was able to pull away from the competition to secure his Round 1 win followed by Chase Bohanon and Maci Prowell.
The 2024 Nashville Spring Series presented by MPI concludes on Saturday, April 20 with Round 2 coverage beginning at 1pm CT/2pm ET and Round 3 at 5pm CT/6pm ET on uslegendcars.tv.
