Rule specifications:
When checking safety belts, there are a few things to focus on. The first & most important would be that there are no tears in the belts. Check very closely where the belts go through the seat and through the sheet metal. Also, the belts must have a quick release buckle. INEX does not mandate a particular brand. However, INEX does require that they be a factory manufactured, racing safety harness. Most harness systems will have a dated S.F.I. tag. However, INEX does not require that the belts be replaced after the date on this tag. INEX will only mandate a belt change if they are damaged. All securing points that use bolts must use a minimum grade 5 bolt. All belts must be threaded through the buckles as specified by the manufacturer.

If an inspector finds belts that are starting to fray, the inspector will recommend to the driver that the belts be changed (this will not require a mandatory change).
If an inspector finds belts that are older than two years (according to the S.F.I. tag), the inspector will recommend to the driver that the belts be changed (this will not be a mandatory change).
