1. What does winning the 2024 Bandolero Outlaws INEX National Championship mean to you?
To date, this is the biggest accomplishment in my racing career. To be able to compete with so many other great drivers to win this speaks volumes for this being only my second season. It’s also redemption for being so close last year, to only losing it due to motor issues during the 2023 Bando Nationals.
2. After a strong start to the season at Winter Nationals, how did that change your perspective on the 2024 season and championship goals?
My perspective after Winter Nationals never changed. After 2023, my goal was to go into the 2024 race season swinging and not stop until Bando Nationals.
3. What was your biggest challenge during the 2024 season?
Staying consistent, focused and not to drive over my head. With all the racing talent this year, I knew that it was going to take everything I had to stay on top.
4. What was your favorite memory from the 2024 season?
I really can't pick just one! Earning the Winter Nationals Outlaw Bando Championship in Florida by sweeping the week to being the Summer Shoot Out Outlaw Champion are pretty high on my list. However, I think Bando Nationals in Iowa might be at the top of list. Winning the pole and the feature Friday, winning the pole for the big race, then being shuffled as far back as fifth or sixth to passing for the lead with two laps to go is a hard feat to do. Got to keep myself and others on their toes!
5. A perfect 2,000-point season, how difficult was it to achieve a perfect season?
With the support of Redhead Racing, team mates, family, friends and my sponsors, it didn't feel hard to achieve. We knew what we needed to do and started to plan after the 2023 Bando Nationals. I took on each race one at a time, and even traveled to many different states and tracks to achieve what we needed.
6. What is next for TJ Moon’s racing journey?
My next step is to race late models, do some Legend racing and while doing all that, enjoy being a kid. I've already been able to do both since Bando Nationals. We've flown out to California twice so I could race Jr Spec Late Models at Irwindale Speedway and raced a Legend here in North Carolina. With the support of my sponsors, family and friends, I know that 2025 will be full of surprises and accomplishments!
